The technology and infrastructure that powers the RateSwitch rate alert service is provided by Mortgage Metrics Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13665605. Registered office: Tramshed Tech, Pendyris Street, Cardiff, CF11 6BH.
References to ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ in this policy include both Rateswitch Ltd and Mortgage Metrics Ltd where the context requires. Rateswitch Ltd is the data controller in respect of any personal data you provide through the Service.
By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by this policy. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service immediately. We take a proactive approach to user privacy and ensure the necessary steps are taken to protect the privacy of our users. This policy complies with the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK GDPR, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
2. Information we collect
When you register to use the Service, we collect the following information:
- Your name, email address and telephone number
- Your current mortgage lender
- Your remaining mortgage term and mortgage balance
- The date your current mortgage rate ends
- The rate you wish to monitor
We also collect information about how you use our website, including which pages you visit, how you reach them, and how long you spend of them. This information is not personally identifiable and is used solely to improve the Service.
Your domain name and email address are recognised by our servers and the pages you visit are recorded. We will not divulge your email address to any person who is not an employee or contractor of ours and does not need to know it.

- Monitor mortgage rates on your behalf and send you alerts when relevant rates change
- Contact you as you approach your mortgage switch window to make you aware of your options
- Provide regulated mortgage services where you choose to instruct us

As set out in our Terms & Conditions, our broker outreach – contacting you as you approach your switch window – is a core part of the Service and is how the free alert platform is funded. There is no obligation on you to engage with us in this regard, and no negative consequence of not doing so.
We may also use information that does not identify any individual in a general way, for example relating to demographics or usage of particular pages, to improve the Service.
4. Email communications and alerts
We will send you rate alerts by email when a rate you are monitoring changes. We may also send you information about your mortgage options and services relevant to your circumstances.
Email marketing campaigns we send may contain tracking facilities. Subscriber activity – such as the opening of emails, clicking of links, and the times and dates of activity – may be tracked and stored to refine future communications and provide you with more relevant content. You may unsubscribe at any time through the automated process detailed at the footer of each email.
Please note that we do not guarantee delivery of alerts. We have no control over whether messages are received, filtered as spam or junk, or blocked by your email provider. When you register, we will send you a confirmation email – please mark this as ‘safe’ or ‘not junk’ in your email client to help ensure future alerts reach your inbox.
We will never send you an email asking you to transfer deposit funds. If you ever receive an email purportedly from us providing bank account details for a transfer, please contact us directly on our main contact details to verify its authenticity.
5. Sharing your information
Except as set out in this policy, we do not share, sell or disclose your personally identifiable information to any third party.
We may share your information with:
- Mortgage Metrics Ltd, which provides the technology infrastructure that powers the Service
- Stonebridge Mortgage Solutions Limited, as our principal firm for regulatory purposes
- Mortgage lenders, where you instruct us to arrange a mortgage on your behalf
- Legal authorities or regulators, where required by law or by a court order
We may obtain data indirectly derived from your personal information from software services such as Google Analytics. No such information is identifiable to you personally.
6. Data retention
We keep information which forms part of our business record for a minimum of six years from the end of any business relationship. This is because we may need it to support or defend a claim, and because our regulatory and tax obligations may require it.
If you would like us to stop processing your data at any time, you have the right to object. You also have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
